Palma Cathedral dress code | Guidelines for your visit

Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the Palma Cathedral, or the La Seu, is officially named the Cathedral of Santa Maria of Palma. Built after King James I of Aragon conquered Mallorca from the Moors, the cathedral is a key symbol of the re-establishment of Christianity on the island. Given its religious significance, you must dress modestly as a sign of respect when you visit the cathedral.

  • See-through clothing is prohibited for men, women, and children.

  • Women must wear dresses that cover the knees. The same goes for men. 
  • Off-shoulder tops, tank tops, and other such clothing that expose the shoulders are prohibited for men and women. 
  • Any clothing with offensive graphics or text is prohibited at the cathedral. 
  • Wearing hats or headgear of any kind isn’t allowed at the cathedral.
